Fruit trees not producing fruit

0 votes
I live in Charlottesville, VA and there were several fruit trees on the property when we moved in over 1 year ago.  They are in full sun, and only the pear trees have fruited.  There are several apple trees, plums, peach, and a couple of unidentified trees.  The apples flowered but did not produce fruit.  I don't know what variety they are, so I don't know if they are compatible pollinators for the others.  Some of the apple and plum trees are large, so I would expect them to be old enough to produce fruit.  Other than pruning, I'm unsure of what to do to care for fruit trees.  I've put a little fertilizer (miracle gro) on the smallest trees that did not appear to be growing as fast.

Thanks

NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER USE MIRACLE GROW OR ANY OTHER SYNTHETIC FERTILIZER. THE OVER USE OF DANGEROUS AND DEADLY CHEMICALS PRODUCED BY MONSANTO’S AND OTHER BIOTECH COMPANIES IS WHAT'S DESTROYING OUR SOIL, WATER, AIR, AND FOOD SUPPLY, AS WELL AS POISONING AND KILLING ANIMALS AND HUMANS. BOYCOTT THESE HORRIBLE CHEMICALS IMMEDIATELY!!  HUMAN AND ANIMAL BODIES ARE NOT MEANT TO TOLERATE THESE FOREIGN TOXIC CHEMICALS. ALWAYS USE ORGANIC FERTILIZERS, POLLINATORS, HERBICIDES, PESTICIDE, INSECTICIDES, RODENTICIDES, ETC., ETC., ETC., AND NOTHING ELSE.

Hi,

There are SO many factors that can influence the production (or failure to produce) of fruit trees that I cannot do your question justice with a short answer. E.g. the health of your tree, its environment, fruiting habits, and the cultural practices you use can influence its ability to produce fruit. Adequate pollination is also essential to fruit yield.

However, I do have a very informative fact file on the subject that you can download from my Gardeners Chat-Shed web-site.

I suggest you download the file (in PDF) and study it. From the contents you may be able to trace what your specific problem is.

Here's the URL address:

I hope that helps!
